Jamie got into ice sculpting via the family business. His parents ran Hamilton Ice Sculptors, so Jamie grew up around ice carving and it only seemed natural for him to join in.
However, in order to prove to himself that he wasn’t just taking the easiest option, Jamie headed off to university to study literature and ended up working in theatre production. Eventually the lure of the ice drew him back in and he’s been sculpting ever since.
Jamie’s speciality and favourite things to sculpt are human figures. This is because they’re the most challenging and rewarding carvings when executed properly.
Below you can see Jamie talking about his love of ice sculpture and how he got into it as part of the 1000 Londoners series by Chocolate Films.
