Sculpting numbers is something that takes a lot of precision and this week the team got very busy with the bandsaw. In the photos below you can see Jamie carving a ’21’ ice sculpture for a pop star celebrity birthday which also involved a luge and some big cats.
There are several stages to creating an ice sculpture like this. First of all the template has to be drawn and laid, before the block is crudely roughed out with a chainsaw.
The ice is then polished using a hot plate before the bandsaw is guided around the outline. A steady hand is a must. After one final polish to give the ice its crystal clear aesthetic, it’s ready to go.
