Formula-E Car Ice Sculpture Installation in London

Case Study: Formula-E Ice Car Installation in London

Overview

When Genpact approached us with a bold idea to carve a full-size Formula-E racing car from solid ice, we knew it would be both a technical challenge and a striking public statement on climate change.

The Project

Commissioned to raise awareness of global warming, the installation featured our ice replica displayed alongside a real Formula-E car. The visual impact was immediate—the intricate ice detailing mirrored the engineering precision of its real-world counterpart, highlighting the fragility of ice in a warming climate.

The Installation

The sculpture was unveiled in front of London’s iconic Tower Bridge, drawing crowds and media attention. Over the course of 24 hours, the ice car was left to melt naturally. As it did, the water was collected and measured as part of an interactive competition, turning the melting process into both a performance and a climate conversation starter.

Behind the Scenes

Our team worked to ensure the sculpture was life-size, structurally sound, and true to the aerodynamic form of the original car. The craftsmanship required precision carving, strategic freezing, and careful transport to the event site.
